Where the decision making process needs improvement.


On 17th Feb the Executive Board agreed to "note" the Annual Letter from the District Auditor.  The full text can be viewed here.  In the section on Housing Market Renewal, at paragraph 91 "scope for improvements" is identified in: -
Scrutiny "monitoring by (councillors) within Liverpool to provide Members with better information and an improved basis for exercising their responsibilities..."
Risk Assessment "...for example to ensure that the risks of funding and the impact of changes in the property market are adequately addressed;"
Best Value "arrangements to assess and demonstrate value for money;"
Community Engagement "...especially in areas where there is opposition to aspects of the clearance programme..."

Hitherto, the decison making processes in the Welsh Streets clearance programme have been defended robustly by the (former) Executive Member and by officers.  There appears to be no insight into any possible deficiencies.   The links above lead to contrary evidence.
